The New Testament and Peace

It is clear from Sacred Scripture that inward and outward peace are important. The following are New Testament passages from the Douay-Rheims translation which mention "peace". To "hold your peace" means to "keep to yourself about something" or "not to speak about something". Even though it is idiomatic, it certainly involves a certain level of peace and calm and self-sacrifice. Finally, I would like to exhort you: Among other things, strive for peace! Many saints say that peace of heart is indispensable to holiness.

1	Matthew 10:12 And when you come into the house, salute it, saying: Peace be to this house.
2	Matthew 10:13 And if that house be worthy, your peace shall come upon it; but if it be not worthy, your peace shall return to you.
3	Matthew 10:34 Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword.
4	Matthew 20:31 And the multitude rebuked them that they should hold their peace. But they cried out the more, saying: O Lord, thou son of David, have mercy on us.
